Jim Zorn is disappointed the Redskins aren't in the playoffs, especially because Washington started the season 4-1 and was 6-2 at midseason. But the first-year coach said just making the playoffs isn't good enough.
"I want to coach a team that is a playoff team, not just a team that gets to the playoffs," Zorn said in his season wrap-up press conference. "I want these guys to be perennial.

--Defensive line coach Greg Blache almost retired after the grueling 2007 season that was marred by the murder of Pro Bowl safety Sean Taylor in November. Going out with another playoff team was going to be OK with Blache, who was about to turn 59 and was looking forward to relaxing, hunting and eating Creole cuisine washed down with a nice bottle of wine.

Unlike many teams, the Redskins plan no changes on their coaching staff, something that hasn't happened since 1996. Coach Jim Zorn said that while he expects some changes in personnel, he thinks they'll happen gradually over the next couple of months.

The Redskins completed their final contest of the year against the San Francisco 49ers in a similar heartbreaking fashion that mirrored the season as a whole. The Redskins had high hopes at the halfway point with a record of 6-2, while the hopes of a victory following their halftime lead against San Francisco dwindled as the game ended with a last second field goal, putting the finishing touches on a season that ended in an aura of disappointment.
The defeat was especially painful for defens...

Redskins defensive end Andre Carter is returning to San Francisco's Candlestick Park -- the place he called his NFL home for his first five seasons -- for the first time since 2005. Washington was eliminated from the play-offs last week by the Atlanta Falcons, bit Carter has plenty of motivation following the Redskins completion of a season sweep against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Redskins 10-3 victory over the Eagles was fueled by a fiery effort from the team's 4th ranked defense, holding...

It's official. The Redskins have now reached the lowest point of their season. A 20-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday deflated almost any hope the team had of reaching the 2008 postseason.
Many players and coaches continue to say that the team practices at a playoff-like pace and focus hard every week to prepare for these games, so why hasn't it shown when it comes to game time?
"Good question. Even I can't answer that. We are busting our tail in practice. Our level of confiden...

Baugh should be in consideration for the greatest quarterback ever. He is considered one of the founding fathers of the modern-day NFL passing game. Only in the virtual world is there a "re-do" option. The Redskins are wishing that what they are experiencing is just a bad Madden 09 simulation.
Unfortunately that is not the case.
The Redskins lost their third consecutive game 24-10 on Sunday night. This time it was just up the road against the Baltimore Ravens, making them 0-4 on prime-time games and 1-3 all-time against the Ravens.
The loss puts the Redskins in a situation that requires three consecutive victories for a playoff spot...
