When Carson Palmer was drafted first overall in 2003, the plan from the beginning was to let him hold the clipboard for his entire rookie season. He wouldn’t play a down, instead he would study the playbook, the speed of the NFL game and all the nuances that come with it. He later became a Pro Bowl quarterback, the face of the Bengals and was considered one of the top 3 QBs in the league before ...

A new season, a new quarterback. Jets fans must be experiencing deja-vu'. Only this time it's not the indecisive Brett Favre but the latest USC prodigy, Mark Sanchez. Not since "Broadway" Joe Namath has a quarterback arrived with so much excitement. Although Sanchez is the new face of the franchise, he wasn't the most important pick-up during the offseason. That distinction belongs to new head ...

Count me as a charter member of the Rex Ryan fan club.
In a league filled with robots masquerading as head coaches, Ryan is a welcome breath of fresh air.
Unlike Bill Belichick, Andy Reid, Brad Childress, Eric Mangini (whom Ryan replaced in New York) and virtually ever other NFL head coach, Ryan doesn't think it's an indictable offense to show a personality.
June is usually as dead as it gets ...

Dustin Keller is extremely talented and extremely confident. By talented, we don't mean limited to football. And by confident, we mean for example that the Jets' third-year tight end has chosen to concentrate on a sector of the economy that's been known to gobble up profits and spit out investors.

The Jets announced Monday that they would release running back Thomas Jones when free agency begins Friday. The move seemed inevitable once it became clear that Jones, who will turn 32 before the start of the 2010 season, would not restructure his contract to save the Jets a $3 million roster bonus due next week. Jones rushed for a career-high 1,402 yards in 2009, carrying the burden for an offense trying to insulate the rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez during the Jets' unexpected run to the Ame...
