How the mighty have fallen.
The Denver Broncos were once one of the marquee franchises in the NFL.
Pat Bowlen was a great owner, Mike Shanahan was a top-notch coach and John Elway was a Hall of Fame quarterback.
Now, when I assemble my first power poll for the 2009 season, I'm considering putting the four UFL teams and half of the SEC ahead of the Broncos.
Whacking Shanahan for Josh McDaniels ...

I'm not sure where it all started, but the new breed of NFL coaches is ruled by ego.
Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is just the latest megalomaniac to rise to the top of the NFL mountain.
Denver fans, along with the team's front office, were convinced they had their heir-apparent to John Elway a year ago.
Fast-forward a year later, and it's almost unthinkable how quickly McDaniels shifted ...

It's usually not all that hard to pick a rooting interest in any conflict, be it personal, professional, political or in the world of sports.
The average person will gravitate toward one side for a plethora of reasons that can involve everything from family ties to patriotism to the color of a jersey.
In the Jay Cutler-Josh McDaniels fiasco, though, I find myself unable to pick a favorite.

When the Denver Broncos host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, they’ll be doing it without starting running back Selvin Young and tight end Tony Scheffler.
Commentary: Both Young and Scheffler reportedly suffered groin injuries in the Tampa Bay game, joining Ebenezer Ekuban in groin-related woes and really begging the question of what’s up in that area in Bronco Land.
