I believe the male Football fans of Baltimore have a major man-crush on Ed Reed. I know. I'm one of them. We're having a bromance with No. 20 for your Baltimore Ravens . The women like him, too, but it's not the same thing. It's a guy thing. I hear guys all the time say how much they "love" Ed Reed. Ed might not think this is very amusing - guys having a crush on him, and the word of that getting around the Ravens dressing room. I mean, already - just 90 words in - this column probably embarrasses him.

After such a dominating performance from the Ravens’ defense in Sunday’s 27-9 playoff win over the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore didn’t need much from their offense. That is something Baltimore would like to change this weekend when the club travels to Tennessee to take on the Titans in an AFC divisional matchup.

Looking back on their stellar performances during the Ravens’ 11-5 regular season, quarterback Joe Flacco and safety Ed Reed have been nominated for yearly NFL awards. Flacco is among the final five finalists for the 2008 Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year, while Reed is in line for the GMC Sierra Defensive Player of the Year honor.

Beating a team twice on the road in the same season is tough, unless Ed Reed, Ray Lewis and friends are on your side. The 2000 Ravens did it to Tennessee and went on to win a Super Bowl in Tampa. The 2008 Ravens completed a Dolphins' sweep with a 27-9 win and are moving in the direction of a Super Bowl you know where.

Ravens rookie quarterback Joe Flacco was just good enough in his first playoff start that he was able to manufacture a 27-9 win over the Miami Dolphins. Just don’t tell him he was simply a game-manager.

Ed Reed’s 64-yard pick-and-run late in the first half of the Ravens’ 27-9 Wild Card win over Miami gave Baltimore control of the game. A darting interception by the Ravens safety late in the third quarter helped preserve it. For the former University of Miami standout, it’s the continuation of a remarkable trend that began in early December. Over the last five games, he has tallied eight interceptions and vaulted himself into strong consideration for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
